About Ri8 New Capital

Duplexes for Sale in Ri8 - New Capital By ERG - Delivery Year 2026

New Capital Rising in the Desert of Egypt

The Egyptian government is building a massive new capital city east of Cairo to help alleviate overpopulation and traffic congestion in the existing capital. Named the New Capital City, it is being constructed at Compound Ri8, about 45 kilometers east of Cairo. The new capital city is designed to eventually house 6.5 million residents over an area of 175,000 acres.

Construction of the new capital began in March 2015. The first phase, which is already completed, includes the Presidential Palace and government ministries. The second phase, currently under construction, focuses on residential areas, infrastructure, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions. This phase includes 5 districts that will house around 1 million residents.

The new capital city is designed to incorporate advanced sustainable and eco-friendly features. It will have a highly developed green space network, with trees, gardens and nature preserves integrated throughout the city. Solar energy and renewable technologies will be utilized for power generation and water desalinization. Green building materials and waste recycling will also be emphasized.

Transportation within the new capital will rely on light rail, bus rapid transit, bike lanes and pedestrian walkways. There will be limited private vehicle traffic to reduce emissions and traffic jams. A new high-speed railroad line will connect the new capital to Cairo and other major cities within 2 hours.

While still under construction, the new capital city is seen as a pivotal step toward a more sustainable future for overpopulated Egypt. It aims to concentrate government administration, businesses, residents, and economic activity into a planned city with a smaller footprint and lower impact on the environment. Once completed, it could serve as a model for sustainable urban development that other developing nations can follow.

The new capital city rising in the eastern desert of Egypt symbolizes the country's ambition, vision and determination to build a better capital and a greener future for its citizens. Though still under construction, it is already making a bold statement and capturing attention from around the world.
